Models for MIMO propagation channels: a review
نویسندگان
چکیده
SUMMARY This paper reviews recently published results on multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel modeling. Both nar-rowband and wideband models are considered. We distinguish between two main approaches to MIMO channel modeling, namely, physically based and non-physically based modeling. The non-physical models primarily rely on the statistical characteristics of the MIMO channels obtained from the measured data while the physical models describe the MIMO channel (or its distribution) via some physical parameters. We briefly review different MIMO channel models and discuss their relationships. Some interesting aspects will be described in more detail and we note areas where few results are available.

متن کاملSingle-Carrier Frequency-Domain Equalization for Orthogonal STBC over Frequency-Selective MIMO-PLC channels
In this paper we propose a new space diversity scheme for broadband PLC systems using orthogonal space-time block coding (OSTBC) transmission combined with single-carrier frequency-domain equalization (SC-FDE). To apply this diversity technique to PLC channels, we first propose a new technique for combining SC-FDE with OSTBCs applicable to all dispersive multipath channels impaired by impulsive...
متن کاملEffects of Space on MIMO Capacity: A New Closed Form Upper Bound
We present a new upper bound on capacity for multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wireless fading channels which is more general and realistic than previous capacity expressions. By including spatial information at the antenna arrays we derive a closed form upper bound on capacity which uses the physics of signal propagation combined with statistics of the scattering environment. This expressi...
متن کاملPropagation Channel Models for Next-Generation Wireless Communications Systems
As new systems and applications are introduced for next-generation wireless systems, the propagation channels in which they operate need to be characterized. This paper discusses propagation channels for four types of next-generation systems: (i) distributed MIMO and Cooperative MultiPoint (CoMP), systems, which require the characterization of correlation between properties of links from a mobi...
متن کاملThe Multiple - Input Multiple - Output Systems in Slow and Fast Varying Radio Channels
Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems are well known as a technique which allows increasing the throughput of a radio link and overcoming the effects of multipath fading. However, the integration of MIMO systems into the standards of wireless networks is slow, as there are numerous problems still unsolved. This PhD thesis deals with MIMO systems in slow and fast varying radio channels. ...
